Bk-GAWK! A HAWK! December 3, 2012

Filed under: Animals — explorergarden @ 5:52 am

A Cooper’s Hawk has been perching above our backyard, ogling the chickens. One of the girls — perhaps Eulalie — alerted me to his presence with a big, burbling Bk-GAWK! I ran outside to look and the hawk flew away. It happened several times, and finally the kids and I rounded up the chickens — no easy task — and put them in the coop. Not sure what to do — may string some fishing line between the coop and the fence to keep the hawk from swooping down in that area. So far we’ve been lucky!
